Video : Jamiroquai – White Knuckle Ride and Blue Skies

Jamiroquai have released two videos from their upcoming album “Rock Dust Light Star” scheduled for release in November, and here they are.  The videos, “White Knuckle Ride” and “Blue Skies”, are both shot in identical, brushy, high desert sets and contain Jay Kay’s usual vehicular objects of obsession.  The addition of a helicopter to both […]

Golden Eye, naturally synced

“Golden Eyes Forever“, the debut 5-track release from Alec Feld‘s project Golden Eye is described by himself as being about “the disintegration of summer and the construction of the fall months…the cyclic nature of psychosis”. As Fall now makes its presence felt at the cost of Summer’s warmth, this collection of tracks makes for perfect […]

Baba Brinkman – The Rap Guide to Human Nature

I first saw Canadian rapper Baba Brinkman perform when I was in college  in support of his show, Rap Canterbury Tales (in case you missed that – a rap version of Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales). A self-described “rap troubadour” with a master’s degree in English, Brinkman has toured the Fringe Festival circuit extensively and has embarked […]

Boom Boom Satellites Release ‘Over and Over’

Japanese duo, Boom Boom Satellites, are fresh off the release of their “best of” album, Over and Over. The record features 17 tracks that have been thoroughly re-mastered and re-mixed by band members bassist/programmer Masayuki Nakano and guitarist/vocalist Michiyuki Kawashima, the record, which spans the duos’s 6 albums, is closer to a completely new album […]

Katy Perry’s Too Hot for Sesame Street

Katy Perry’s guest appearance on Sesame Street, which was to air in a few months, has been scrapped by the show’s producers. Reason: parents were upset about her revealing dress. Show producers should’ve caught this one early on and I’m not convinced Katy brought along her own wardrobe for this show, so… Watch the clip […]

Welcome: Samantha Crain

I like Shawnee, Oklahoma native Samantha Crain. A 24-year-old singer/songwriter, Crain’s rich, unpolished voice and folk-infused songs are what they are, no extra embellishments needed. Her recent release, You (Understood), has garnered a lot of media attention and Crain is on tour with her band to support the album. She’s accumulated hundreds of thousands of […]

Album Review : Andreya Triana – Lost Where I Belong

“Lost Where I Belong”, the compelling, debut album from British soul singer Andreya Triana, is likely to shake up the complacent establishment of the neo-soul world. Neo-soul, a genre which has a tendency to fall prey to predictability, can often be represented by a revolving door of up and coming soul singers strutting their stuff […]
