Dona Sandra – Orquesta & Zuzuka Poderosa (@zuzukapoderosa)

We at Boom Boom Chik love the Brazilian baile funk ambassador in New York, Zuzuka Poderosa. Since last year’s LAMC, her star has been rising – rightly so – and fresh out the inbox today came in a tune called “Dona Sandra”, a collaboration between Zuzuka and a 21-year-old Irish producer called Orquesta. The song is about a girl who moves to Mozambique to forget her lost love but instead finds love amongst a tribe there. Zuzuka’s unique delivery and ability to tell a captivating story are reminiscent of Rita Indiana, and Orquesta’s Latin and African inspired beat make for a gorgeous record. You can download the Dona Sandra EP for free HERE.
