Today’s fresh sound comes from London-based rock group, Thirsty. The band began as a songwriting collaboration between an English rock musician, Guy Bailey and Russian poet, Irina D. Guy started to infuse his early punk, psychedelic and arthouse sensibilities with Irina’s absorbing lyrical stories concerning Mafioso’s, Kennedy’s and Soviet snipers. They then headed into the studio with some accomplished English musicians to really nail down the tracks with the help of legendary Rolling Stones’ producer, Chris Kimsey.

Thirsty sent us over the single from their self-titled debut called “God Bless America” which has a classic, subversive rock sound reminiscent of the sixties. Listing to the track conjures up thoughts the Stones, Dylan and Lou Reed with a modern touch.. Not sure why an English band has a song about America, but whatever reason it is, it is definitely worthy of a listen.
