Aptly titled Brooklyn duo, Matt and Kim, released their third LP, Sidewalks, this past week on Fader Label. The highly anticipated album comes roughly a year after the band’s last release, and biggest success to date, Grand.
First of all, I want to say that I really like this album and I’m sure it’s gonna be a big hit. That being said, I can’t help but wonder “will this be one of those albums that I buy, listen to 43 times in a row, and then never want to even look at again?” Maybe. Probably.
Sidewalks is pretty straightforward – if you like track 1, you’re gonna like the whole thing. It’s nothing brand new or something you’ve never heard, but it’s done very well and, well, the songs are just catchy.
The album starts with club-beat-driven Block After Block and continues to roll through one poppy, tap your foot, bob your head jam after another. The album’s first single, Cameras, is a standout among the 10 tracks with a horn based beat that will keep your dick hard for days. As the tracks roll on, its remains evident that the beats and keyboard production are the driving force behind the album making this release perfect for the gym, Brooklyn apartment dance parties or the next time you’re rollin’ on a triple stack.
Key songs: Cameras, Good for Great, AM/FM Sound, Ice Melts
