Listen: Deluka

UK group, Deluka, is the latest female led indie-electro rock group to make its way to the surface.Their first single, “Cascade” has gained the attention of the masses when KROQ spinned the track in LA. MTV eventually found them and licensed a few tracks for “The City” and even featured it at the 2009 VMA’s […]

DJ Earworm – United States of Pop 2009

BoomBoomChikers, my bad for my disappearing act as of late, been busy! I came across this mashup rather late as it was released in December by DJ Earworm, a mashup artist. Earworm is known for his end-of-the-year mashups of the top 25 songs of the year on Billboard magazine. This mashup is considered his best […]

Urban Legend – The World Keeps Spinning

Continuing my discovery of Latin dance/electronic music, we have Urban Legend. The story of Urban Legend goes something like this. 2 producers, J -Radical and Kool Kojak (best known for co-writing/producing Flo Rida’s “Right Round.”), first met in my hood, Ft. Green, in Brooklyn at Moe’s bar. Upon being introduced by super producer Dr. Luke […]

He won the MC Battle at the 2007 Scribble Jam, the largest hip hop festival in the nation. His voice is very laid back and his […]

Welcome: Brusque Twins

Really digging this 2 piece minimalist/ambient  group from Montreal called Brusque Twins. They are new to the scene (only have 1127 hits on myspace), but their mesmerizing arrangements, and enchanting sounds are sure to bring them some hype this year. The beats are simple and drenched with reverb, and the female vocals, provided by HH […]

Bocafloja feat. Hache ST – Testigo

One of my friends is really the socially conscious, good, simple beats, keeps your head boppin’ kind of hip hop and his latest find, Bocafloja‘s “Testigo”, has me reeling.  Bocafloja (Spanish for “Loose Mouth”) is a poet, MC, and social activist from Mexico City who currently divides his time in NYC, California, and Mexico.  He […]

Introducing Esperanza Spalding

2009 has been a blessed year for musician Esperanza Spalding who has recently garnered much attention after being invited by President Obama to perform at the Nobel Prize giving ceremony. Spalding is a 25-year-old bassist/singer songwriter from Oregon who discovered music early on in life. After getting her GED at 16, she enrolled at Portland […]

The Soundmen – Everybody Move

This track, “Everybody Move,”  by Seattle/NY production duo The Soundmen is a prime example of what Electro Hop is. The duo team up with ATL (Atlanta for those who are not down with the lingo) newcomer, Jdown Valmont to create a club record made for winter. Reminds me of the stuff Flo Rida is pushing […]

FREE Download: Bomba Estereo

Bomba Estereo didn’t catch my ear the first time I heard them – turns out I had one of their songs in my iTunes – but after re-discovering them, I promptly said, “YOOOOOOOO!!!” This blend of cumbia and funk is reminscent of Calle 13’s blend of reggeton with, well, everything; lead singer Li sounds like […]

SHITDISCO This past Saturday local faves LapSap and the Scottish crazy ass electronic crew SHITDISCO performed in KL’s famous club, Zouk. The night started off with LapSap who definitely held it down and kept the good beats coming. So much so that shit started to get crowded and you were sure if you were shaking […]

New Remix: Pete Lawrie – Black and Blue (Troublemaker Remix)

The latest remix from Cali producer/remixer Troublemaker is “Black and Blue” by Wales soulful singer/songwriter Pete Lawrie. Troublemaker has added his signature hip hop/dub sound to a rather chill track. The mix is big and Mr. Lawrie’s vocals fit freakishly perfect with it– I think he needs to do a few more tracks with this […]
