I recently came across Jirapah after seeing the band’s bassist, Mar Galo, in the short film “Hujan Panas“. Made up of New York City transplants Mar Galo and Ken Jenie, the band, currently based out of Galo and Jenie’s native Indonesia, has its humble beginnings in New York City, the brainchild of a musically inclined Jenie. After teaching Galo how to play bass, the two set off to perform in the City. The band is generous enough to provide free downloads of their songs on their site, accompanied by anecdotes of how those songs came to be.
