FINALLY!!

Norwegian electronic duo Röyksopp have returned on the scene with their highly anticipated album Senior. A part of the Junior/Senior album series, Senior is an all-instrumental album and much different than its predecessor in both mood and sound. Where Junior was dreamy, melodic, and fun, Senior aims to be a more introspective and bare record in its production and in the way the songs are written. It starts off very dark and so stripped down it sounds as if it were produced by someone new to the game, but it slowly reveals aspects of Royksopp’s sound we’ve come to know. The album is like a wave – just when you think you have it figured it out, you are plunged into unfamiliarity. Songs like “The Alcoholic”, “Senior Living” and “Forsaken Cowboy” really display the duo’s musicianship and uncanny ability to intersperse many moods and emotions into the span of a few minutes.
