I first came across Haitian-American songstress Gaelle on MySpace four years ago and she has since become one of my all-time favorite singers. Her 2004 debut release, Transient, is a classic – a collection of twelve songs, each displaying Gaelle + Co.’s solid musicianship. This album isn’t held together by one big-name producer who creates the beats while the singer just adds a melody on top. The cohesiveness of the tracks and the album suggests the musicians (Gaelle included) who worked on this record had great chemistry and this is the product of the collaboration.

Six years after the release of Transient, Gaelle is purportedly working on a new album, one I’d say is highly anticipated among her fans. I still haven’t grown tired of the songs on Transient, and they never fail to enchant a friend of mine who hasn’t heard of Gaelle before.
