Red Martian is their name, and shoegazzy indie rock is their name. Formed in 1999, Red Martian came out of the DIY punk scene in Seattle, WA. Drawing influences from My Bloody Valentine, New York Dolls, and Iggy Pop, they bring those influences to a new age of rock.
They sent us over their new album, Slow Motion Samurai, to check out and we like it. Listening to the album you can definitely hear some solid songwriting and melodies. As you go through the 13 songs on the album, you get to hear the energy and vibe the trio had when creating the album. You can really hear the ‘humaness’ in the album, it’s not perfect all the time, but this type of music isn’t suppose to be like that. Basically you have 3 talented musicians coming together to make some good tunes. Bravo
I was really digging all the songs on the album, but if I had to pick a few of the standouts it would be “秘密の旋律”, the laidback acoustic track, “Donkey Back Ride”, the crazy, energy-driven “Away” and the last tune on the album, “Greying”
Stream the album below and if you dig you can pick it up from their BandCamp page.
enjoY!
