Somelsewhere follows a tradition of one-man music projects like Sufjan Stevens and Implosion Quintet. Ross Campbell is the man behind the music, a college sophomore who began recording only last year. Before Ross sets off for a semester-long program in Japan, he has released an EP entitled Ink.Blot.Blink available for free HERE. Ross’s voice complement the subtle, ambient instrumentation quite nicely. Even when he sings a high note in his range, he doesn’t sound like he’s screeching or trying hard to hit that note. It’s a sound that’s not rough around the edges and sounds like what a Van Gogh painting looks like: swirling colors that have no set start or end point. Fluid.
