This song actually came out a few years ago on Rhythms del Mundo: Cuba. It’s an album that features Cuban arrangements by Buena Vista Social Club to songs by Maroon 5, Jack Johnson, Dido, and Coldplay among others.
I promise you you’ll have this on repeat. Oh and it’s available on iTunes!
much love and a healthy 2010,

wow, I wasn’t expecting that. I definitely love the Cuban influence to the song. I don’t know how to describe the sound, it sounds like Trova, or timba to me. One thing I do know though is that this song kicks ass
I knew this was you as soon as I saw the title of the post. Ahh I miss Laf days, extravaganza and Salsa practice.
Here it is January 2012 and I have just heard this Coldplay/Buena Vista Clocks remix for the first time via the CBC here in Canada. So many comments on this mix are unfavourable and say that Chris Martin has a whining voice. Well, why don’t they ignore him and listen to what the BVSC are playing in the background…..Cuban music at its best…the best horn players in the world…the best rhythms….I feel bad that all you Americans out there can’t go to Cuba and really hear the music there. There is nothing like it anywhere and this collaboration puts the best with, some might say, the best (Coldplay), at least huge in popularity if not talent. Fragilidad with Sting and the BVSC on the same album is magical.
