Kordan is a Brooklyn based dream-pop trio who are set to release their first full-length debut, The Longing, this October.
Composed of Arthur (vocals/guitar), Liz (vocals/synth) and Gabo (bass), they emerged from the vibrant rave and indie rock scenes in Puerto Rico during the early 2000s. After different stints found them in different parts of the US, the trio converged in Brooklyn and began to fuse their love for shoegaze rock with electro sensibility to form Kordan. In the fall of 2008, Cut Copy heard the band’s songs and chose Kordan as an opening act on their North American tour, launching them into the forefront of the indie music scene.
When listening to Kordan you will notice shoegazey-electro textures that blend post-punk rhythms with a a darker, more melancholy vibe, sort of like a darker version of The Drums. You will also notice lush textures and veiled dance beats that provide the backbone to the somber but sweet melodies.
Peep their first single, “Mirror,” below as well as a remix they did for Houses. Don’t forget to check out The Longing when It is released on October 5th.
