What a fun night indeed. Started off with my buddy Hannah getting a drink at Lolita in the LES. We were getting to check out a private party/performance of Glam Rockers, Semi Precious Weapons. The band had just got done performing at Madison Square Garden earlier opening for Lady GaGa and were ready to party. The show was at this more-intimate-then-not venue called Good Units, located in the basement of the Hudson Hotel (Use to be a YMCA b-ball court back in the day). The venue was cool because it was accent lighted in warm colors all over the place. The decor was very modern, a very chic, very trendy place indeed. (as you could see by the people who were enjoying the show with us)
Anyway we were on the House List so we got to go chill up in the balcony for a bit. When we got up there we were pleased to know that we had caught the last 10 minutes of and open bar for Hudson Vodka– Vodka on the rocks please.
After our drinks we decided to go downstairs and get in on the action that was gonna happen later on. Make our way down to the floor get pretty much up to the front where we chatted up with the people around us. ( Hannah even met an old friend there) I didn’t really pay to much attention to the opening guy who looked like a hippie version of Dwight from The Office, but he did have dancers on both sides of him.
Next thing we know the guys are coming on stage all amped up ready to go. Lead singer, Justin Tranter, takes the mic and gets the crowd loud and ready for a rock concert.
Let me tell you, they really put on a show too. So much energy from these dudes. Moving around the stage jumping on instruments, screaming solos, sexual dance moves, enjoying the rock star life which they pull of so excellently. They played material from their recently released album, You Love You, and of course in the middle of the set was that line, “I can’t pay my rent, but I’m fucking gorgeous,” which was then proceeded by an ecstatic crowd rocking out straight on to the end which involved the drummer jumping off his kit. Good times indeed.
