Jacob 2-2 is a Brooklyn based electronic music producer. He started the project because he was bored being a motion graphic designer and figured devoting all of his down time from work should be spent making music he enjoys . He has done remixes for hip-hop outfit Dalek (Ipecac records) and Brooklyn synth pop trio Sensual Harassment
Through much experimentation he finally was able to complete a 4 song EP that he lovingly shared with us. The EP, Gifted Child, is pretty dope, only 4 tracks, but 4 high quality tracks worth of multiple listens. He described it as “Electrofunk beats with playful melodies, 8-bit noises and swiggly PBS synths” and he couldn’t be more right, but if you want to put it into a broader category, then Futrue Hop would be the one that works. The tracks are very layered and intricate with synths, bleeps, blaps and hip-hop styled drums. I think my favorite track on the EP was “Frozen Objects” with features the stellar vocal work of Devery. It had more of a electro dance feel to it, but that’s ok because I must have listened to it 5 times in a row.
