Jultopia, the alter ego of Oregon native Julian Master, has zipped up his track suit, put on his “Bling Tape” and is ready to share is debut 5 track Ep, Jultopia, that takes you on a musical journey through a land of weird robotic dance music.
On this EP you’ll hear elements of electronica, ambient, experimental, hip-hop, dub, and even some pop. His music seems to have this hazy, melodic feel to it where each song is different from the rest. It’s sort of like alt-pop mixed with some laid back drum grooves (do I dare say chillwave?).
My favorite track on the album was definitely “E-Wafer” which has this blunted jazz sound with a laid back house beat. So smooth, so good. Then there was “Hosqua” which is a straight up electro-pop jam with a deep, juicy bassline. Least not forget “See Dreams” which brings you on a journey into your mind with its ambient feel and weird robotic soudn fx.
The EP may only span 15 minutes, but its a great 15 minutes that encompasses all this unknown producer can accomplish.
