Time Columns is an instrumental rock band from Baltimore, MD. After spending years with other projects in the blossoming Baltimore experimental scene, group members Eaton and Benny broke off to create a brainchild of their own. They released their debut EP, Sunriseinthesea, this month on Mystery Tour Records. The EP has only 5 tracks, but 5 tracks is all you need to truly grasp this math rock sound.
Time Castles has a fascination with looping guitar riffs on top of each other to create these thick sonic textures, (they thank the Gibson Echoplex- digital looper for that) When you add live hip-hop drums and pre-recorded samples that are spot on and tight, you get these complex rhythms/melodies that take over your years–think along the lines of Battles or Explosions in the Sky.
If your looking to chill out for a bit then Time Columns is for you. Look for the band on tour this year as well as a debut LP that is in the works.
