The Radio Dept. have been in the game since 1995. They have taken a few breaks here in there, but their dream pop sound is still intact and still very good. Proof is in their latest single, “Heaven’s On Fire” which is the first single from their new album, Clinging to A Scheme, which will be released in April.
“Heaven’s On Fire” has this shoegaze, feel-good, indie electronic sound too it. Lo-fi drums provide the backbone for the track while the the smooth guitar licks and pretty piano melodies provide a spring time type of feeling. What I was really digging about this track were the vocals. At points they seem to get lost in mix and blend together, but that is a good thing because it’s is almost like it’s another instrument in itself.
