Got some fresh, new, hip hop for you guys and girls which comes courtesy of Cali Emcee JB. A self-described driven, laid back guy, he started rapping when he was just 13 years old with tons of encouragement from his cousin Sam. He had a rough life, dealing with a parent on drugs and some trouble with the law, but soon realized he needed to wake up if he ever wanted to rise above the problems he saw in the world.
JB started his own production company called BGK (Black Global Kings). It was started by him and his cousin to help give back to their hip-hop culture and to add real talent to the music scene. JB describes his sound as “mob rock” that has something for those both into rap or rock to enjoy, essentially being able to be aggressive without actually being aggressive.
Well, I think JB achieved what Lil Wayne was trying to do with his latest album Rebirth. A rap/rock hybrid that has the right hooks, the right melodies and the right sound, not to mention JB’s flow is really good. All you have to do is listen to the the track “Love me or Hate Me” to see what I mean.
