Holy indie dance rock batman, did you hear about that Sydney band, The Cassette Kids? The quartet, which features singer Katrina Noorbergen, guitarist Dan Schober, bassist Dan Deitz and drummer Jake Read-Harber, came together from four distinct corners of the indie scene with each one of them eager to collaborate on a fresh sound. With influences that include The Rapture, Klaxons, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and No Doubt, Cassette Kids are making dancefloors wet with their catchy dance rock sound.
Their first single. “Lying Around,” form their first full length debut, Nothing On TV, opens with this cool arp sound only to break into a simple, but groovy bassline and Noorbergen’s sweet pop vocals. To achieve this new sound, the Kids hooked up with Michael DiFrancesco, producer and member of Sydney outfit Van She, and engineer Richard Wilkinson (Hot Chip, The Magic Numbers) who continued to mold their sound to what you hear below.
