Nothing beats the feel, experience, or atmosphere of going to a live show to enjoy the artist you love, but sometimes dealing with the crowds, not being able to see, or dealing with that drunk girl who just puked all over your shoes ruins that show for you. Well, have no fear because now there is a new way to experience the artists you love… in 3D.

This December, the first in a series of 3D concert events will debut with the 3D release of “Larger Than Life…In 3D” featuring Dave Matthews Band, Ben Harper and the Relentless 7 and Gogol Bordello. The film was shot at music festivals around the US this past summer including Austin City Limits, in Texas, the Mile High Music Festival in Denver and at All Points West in NJ

I was privileged to check out the movie last week and all I can say is that if you are a fan of any of these bands, (which I am) you will love the movie. Watching a concert in 3d essentially brings the viewer onstage, giving you a stunning 360 degree view of each live performance. By putting on the special 3d glasses you instantly get that first hand experience that everyone craves. You get to see the beach ball fly at you like you were actually about to push it, or see the cymbals of the drum kit get bashed right in front of your eyes. Your whole world is emerged in the setting, and this is all from the comfort of your seat.

Now some would say that you lose the experience of a concert by watching it on a screen, and though that may be true, its not as much as you think. By the time DMB came on the screen people were tapping their feet moving their bodies, all while sitting down. When Dave played some of his more classic tunes (“So Much To Say”, “Ants Marching”) everyone starting singing as if they were actually there–It was pseudo concert experience that I would see again.

The Movie will only be in theaters from December 11-17, and after that its gone (no DVD release either) so check it out before its too late. For more info check out inconcert3d.com

Contest: If you want a free pass that admits two(2) to the movie in NY, send an email to submit@boomboomchik.com with your name and address. The first person to send an email wins (NYC only please)
