Pitch Black are award winning multimedia artist Michael Hodgson and Salmonella Dub producer Paddy Free. Having pumped their way through New Zealand’s electronic music scene since their inaugural performance at the annual Gathering New Year’s eve festival in 1997, they have spent the last twelve years shaking up dance floors, winning awards and gaining thousands of fans across the world.
Their sound is a smorgasbord of different electronic genres. It ranges from organic ambient textures and layered soundscapes to cutting acid riffs and rhythmic grooves, all with dub gluing it all together. While you listen to their first single, “Bird Soul”, you will hear what I’m talking about. The track is really melodic, ambient, and just sort of makes you want to kick back and take it easy. So, take it easy with Pitch Black on this fabulous Monday.
