Simian Mobile Disco are releasing a series of 12” singles through a new imprint entitled “Delicacies”, which will be accompanied by a club night –Delicatessen, curated by SMD themselves at venues around the world. Each track will take the name of an exotic, and often bizarre, delicacy from around the world

The latest EP in the series is called “Casu Marzu/1000 Year Egg.” Casu Marzu is the A-side to the EP and it is named after a cheese
infested with maggots that hails from Sardinia that was for a while illegal. (the maggots have a tendency to try and eat your face whilst eating the cheese, and your stomach once they’ve been swallowed). This track is a little dark and has this growling bass that inches up until the break down. The B-side “1000 Year Egg” is a little more mellow and in my opinion the better of the two. It maintains the 4/4 structure with this pizzicato string sample throughout. At the end of the day though you can safely say that these 2 tracks fuse disquieting, uncanny leads and textures with rock solid techno beat.

enjoY!
