What happens when you take 3 iconic bassists from the past and put them all together? You get Freebass.
Freebass is a new group formed by three of Manchester’s finest bassists: Peter Hook of New Order & Joy Division, Andy Rourke of The Smiths and Gary “Mani” Mounfield of The Stone Roses. With the music done, all that was left was to find the perfect voice for the sound. The trio asked their famous friends to contribute vocals with Tim Burgess of The Charlatans, Pete Wylie of The Mighty Wah! & Howard Marks who all took a turn at the microphone.

Pretty darn cool. Amazing how consistent Peter Hook is with his sound (songwriting and production) for the past say 25 years, but it never sounds overly dated. Remember “Revenge” and “Monaco”? Great stuff.
