This afternoon’s entertainment comes from Swedish group, Empire Dogs. They are gearing up to release their 2nd LP, Happy Go Lucky, on May 19th. With Happy Go Lucky the band decided to take a turn in their sound. ”We wanted to pair our two foundations, soul and rock music, with a lot of gene manipulated dance beats” says Sunkan Choi, Empire Dogs’ singer and frontman. “The result is a strange creation which will ADHD your ear drums out both in the clubs and on stages.
After listening to their first single, “Come On You Preachers (Arirang)”, I know why they gave their new LP the name it has. Within 30 second you are hit with this very upbeat, happy pop tune, that makes you want to jump up and down and shout. Sort of reminds me of a song the producers of Ocean’s 13′ would use in one of their montage scenes. With a chanting chorus and a ton of soul flavor, these ‘dogs’ are gonna bring a fresh sound to your ears.
