Toronto’s Chris A. Cummings, a.k.a. Mantler, is set to release his fourth album, Monody, next month via Tomlab. Monody, which means a single melody, finds Mantler combining the best of soul, rock, R&B, and jazz with tight production work to bring out that R&B sound of the late 1970s and early 1980s.
For this album Mantler teamed up with a few different producers to expand the sound of the record. Six tracks on the album were produced by longtime Mantler producer Zack G, while Jeremy Greenspan (Junior Boys) and Leon Taheny (Final Fantasy, Bruce Peninsula) each produced 2 tracks.
Listen to the 1st single “Fresh and Fair” which has this funky r&b vibe to it. Monody will be released on April 13th
