NYC pop collective, Dog Society, have come out with new album called In the Shade, the follow up to 2013’s Emerge. If you feel like you have heard the name before, it is because we have mentioned them before on this site.

Here is a quick refresher, Dog Society consists of Brian Schnaak, Bruce Erik Brauer, Rich Guerzon, and Joe Ranieri. They have a sound that always seems to transverse many musical styles. On this studio outing, the foursome experiment with some solid, classic influences. This includes Beatles-esque psychedelic rock, Nirvana’s melodic grunge and the indie alt-pop rock of The Flaming Lips — 3 solid bands that would sound great when mixed together.

To give us a taste of In the Shade, the band sent us over a track from album called “Losing Her Again,” a pretty solid, rock ballad you can vibe to. On this song you get a psychedelic vibe (courtesy of the guitars and layered voices) that invokes a nostalgic feeling for a sound that you don’t find around much in music these days.

Check out “Losing Her Again” below and if you dig it, pick up the rest of their album from their Bandcamp page. I have heard some of the other tunes on it and its pretty impressive. Check it out!

enjoY!
