Monks of Mellonwah are an award-winning Sydney based band who churn out some really good indie pop tunes. They are gearing up to release their newest EP, Turn The People, a uniquely artistic take on alternative music and their strongest musical statement to date. The album features both self-production from the band as well as work by producers such as Keith Olsen (Grateful Dead, Ozzy Osbourne).
The group sent us over the EP to check out and we fell in love it, their style is a mix of alternative, indie, progressive, electronic, and some pop. If you like the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, Incubus or the Black Keys, you will like Monks of Mellonwah. The one track I was really digging was “Ghost Stories.” The track is a little bit emo, but with a big does of indie.
When listening to the whole EP you can’t help but find very crafted songwriting with many catchy, infectious hooks created by lead singer Vikram Kaushik. Overall a great delight for your ears.
Peep the video to “Ghost Stories” below as well as some streams of cuts from Turn the People.
enjoY!
