Got some new music to share from CA based indie group, Wetwood Smokes. The group started out with stepbrothers Josh Bowman and Steven Howard playing occasionally with each other for years. While playing tunes they met Chrystian Cano, a friend who just so happened to grow up down the street from the them. When they all finally met up for a session they all couldn’t help but feel that intangible magic.

With the magic happening, the boys found themselves spending every dime they earned on gear and every free moment in their rehearsal space. From those sessions came their debut album, Earth Tones & Red, a name derived from the color pallet provided by their setup: wood finished Gretsch drum kit, Red Korg SV-1 with reversed color keys, Fender jazz bass with a red strap and a variety of hand-made wood stained stage props.

The band sent us over the single from the album called “A Better Man.” When you hit play on the track you find a a group that excels at writng uncanny knack for pop hooks but still maintains their indie rock cred. Peep the track below and look for the Earth Tones & Red album out on June 10th.
