Next, I would like to introduce you NYC born and raised, Lael Summer. She is set to release her debut album, Burden to Bear, in early January 2014. Burden to Bear is an eclectic 12-track record that highlights Lael’s distinct and powerful voice that dabbles in some rock, R&B, soul, and even some bossa nova. All this floats over the pop influenced music she creates with album producer Tomas Doncker (Leader of the True Groove Global SOUL family).
When you listen to the album, you can really hear how Lael draws on her experiences in the ‘city that never sleeps.’ This translated into a raw and emotionally connected sound–very intimate indeed. Some stand out tracks from the album are “Look Around,” the bossa nova track “What Do I Know (About Love)” and Lael’s cover of the Hall and Oate’s tune, ‘Do What You Want, Be What You Are’ is cool stuff indeed.
