Fresh out of the inbox we have some new music from a NYC band called Dog Society. Consisting of Bruce Erik Brauer (guitar), Guerzon (Bass), Joe Ranieri (Drums + Percussion) and vocalist Brian Schnak, they create a sound worthy of your ears. The band has just released a new album called Emrge, which is the follow up to their Atlantic Records / EastWest debut, Test Your Own Eyes. (Believe it or not, but Emerge is the group first album in over two decades!)
Dog Society’s refreshing style has caused them to establish an identity of their own. When listening to Emerge, you will notice that these guys have a classic feel-good pop rock sound mixed with a slight edge due to Schnak’s at times raspy voice. The other thing that you notice with these guys sound is the layered guitar work Mr. Brauer does on every track — you can tell this guy loves his guitar.
In my opinion, what makes this album great as each song is totally different from the next, but still maintains that basic sonic glue. “Scraped” was a favorite of mine from the album, it’s movement through different types of sounds and emotions really made me take notice of what these guys got, especially in the lead up to the chorus as well as the chorus itself. Some other highlights include “Pink Sun” and “The Fuse Before”
The band was nice enough to send us over a stream of Emerge which you can listen to below. If you dig it, you can pick up the album when it is released on November 19th. Let us know what you think of it in the comments.
enjoY!
