Electronic duo Rise At Night,—Fiorella, a.k.a. drum ‘n’ bass producer/vocalist Messinian, and Lliam Taylor, a.k.a. producer Kezwik—have released a new tune called “Armed & Dangerous” from their Lady Killa EP. With a sound that ranges from aggressive dubstep bombast to sexy, sweaty, hip-hop-influenced electro, “Armed & Dangerous” is a banger mixing dubstep, electro and hip-hop. What makes this track especially cool is that it features a vocal performance by reggae artist MC Zulu. Now you are probably thinking, Reggae and electro? Yep, it works, works well indeed.

About Rise At Night:
On paper, electronic duo Rise At Night make for a strange pair. Fiorella—a.k.a. drum ‘n’ bass producer/vocalist Messinian—is a rough and tough, Los Angeles-born, Philadelphia-bred, tattooed, genre veteran who’s been a revered, chart-topping pioneer of drum ‘n’ bass and dubstep for well over a decade. Aside from touring year-round with various DJs and being the vocalist for his own pop/electro/rap projects, Messinian is also the frontman for the annual Planet of the Drums Tour (AK1200, Dieselboy, Dara, and Messinian). This tour has been packing raves and selling out venues for over 10 years. It is considered the most successful tour in drum ‘n’ bass history and is the longest-running electronic music tour ever. He’s performed at the Virgin Music Festival, Area 2 Tour (Moby, Busta Rhymes, David Bowie), Salem Tour (w/ The Roots, Outkast), Playstation 2 Tour, Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival, Ultra Music Festival, Love Parade, the Bassrush festivals, Creamfields and numerous huge festivals in Europe and abroad. Meanwhile, his clean-cut, Chico, CA cohort—Lliam Taylor, a.k.a. producer Kezwik—is barely out of high school, but has still managed to garner widespread respect in the EDM community and notch more than a few hits. Still, like any classic combo, their chemistry remains palpable and powerful. They first connected on Taylor’s Get Dropped EP in 2011 and, consequentially, laid the groundwork for Rise At Night early on. That brings us to the duo’s first offering for Datsik’s Firepower Records, The Lady Killa EP, which will eventually lead into their first full-length. The Lady Killa EP is a diverse journey into the various landscapes o EDM with traces of dubstep, bass, electro, hip-hop and more. Later this year, Rise At Night will make their formal live debut alongside Datsik on the “Firepower Most Wanted Tour,” and their show exudes the same kind of adaptability that characterizes every facet of their enigmatic style.
enjoy!
