We had talked about Markus Lambkin, AKA Shit Robot, a few weeks ago when we got news of his new album, From the Cradle To the Rave. Essentially, Shit Robot was the one who helped James Murphy build everyone’s favorite dance label, DFA. He was a very influential part of DFA (considered the Godfather of DFA) and continues to this day. Although he DJ’d some crazy NYC parties back in the day, he never really put out any original music until now. From the Cradle to The Rave is his masterpiece, an album 20 years in the making and at long last it is finally ready to be released.
I have heard the album and I can tell you that you will not be disappointed. He has worked with some amazing talent, including vocals from Hot Chip’s Alexis Taylor, LCD Soundsystem’s Nancy Whang, and even James Murphy to turn out these infectious disco grooves that make the album a great listen from beginning to end. Each track invokes what we have come to know from DFA–a dancing good time.
The album will be released on September 21st, but in the meantime the label has sent over a radio edit of one of the album’s track called “I Found Love.” This album is worth dropping the dough on so you better pick it up. If you have liked anything DFA has put out in the past 5 years, Shit Robot is for you
