As I’m typing this post, I’m Getting ready for my trip this evening to Coachella, but before I leave, I would like to share a gem of a new find from Syracuse duo Mouth’s Cradle. Their alt-hip hop/electro sound caught our attention this past week when they passed us a few tracks from their debut EP, The Next Big Thing. The best way to describe them is Of Montreal mixed with 311 and a glorious amount of pop to top it off.
I was definitely feeling some Outkast vibes as well while listening the track “Honey From A Stone”. It had this 50’s throwback sound that gets you hooked immediately, and then when the pianos comes in…
“Front Porch, Back Porch”, another impressive track has a more traditional hip hop beat, but still had “that” sound. Bottom line is that that beats are really dope and the witty lyrics add the perfect touch.
The duo may only be some college kids making beats in their dorm room, but they are definitely something to pay attention to. Oh, and if you feel that you have seen the name Mouth’s Cradle before, its because they are currently featured on the iTunes Store’s “New and Noteworthy” page as well as the Pop page
enjoY!
