Every once in a while I like to branch off and find something new and different as a lot of the music we receive tends to get bland. This led me to the alternative hip hop genre and NYC band Physha P. This duo, made up of Bebe Boohgz and b.i.g. Lou, takes the best things of Hip Hop/ R&B and adds a little flare with some on stage performance– or the way the describe, NEXT Level Hip-Hop.
Physha P originated in upstate NY as a 5-man Hip-Hop act called Universal Threat. Later, this evolved into a 3-man group known as the Hot Spittaz. However, a car accident claimed the young life of one of its members, Chris Members. Around this time, Bebe met b.i.g. Lou which resulted in music collaborations that displayed diverse, yet, complimentary talents. This led them to such accolades as performing live on BET’s 106& Park, winning BET’s Blaze the Stage Summer Invitational 09, receiving an Underground Music Awards nomination for Best Rap Duo, and getting their upcoming single, “Do What You Do,” added to the Music Choice channels.
Physha P’s sound is def top 40 material. Think a more urban Black Eyed Peas with the choreography of Usher or Missy Elliot; definitely very entertaining (look at youtube video below). What i really dig about them is the dynamic of their vocals. They play really well off of each other which gives more energy and excitement to the tracks.
The duo will be releasing a double single “Shining Like A Diamond”/” Hot Property” followed by the release of their club banger “Do What You Do”.
