We’ve been a fan of IAMXL for a while. His remixes are pretty good, and each one is different, which is great cause it shows his diversity as a producer.
His latest remix is a track from Gogol Bordello. I never heard of the band Gogol Bordello, but after a quick wiki search and some youtube listening, I realize that these guys are pretty sweet. Formed in 1999 in the LES, (lower east side for you non new yorkers) their music is inspired by gypsy music, but are not afraid to throw a little punk into the mix. Drawing on influences form around the world they are truly unique– no doubt about that. They remind me of this other group Man Man…
The IAMXL remix of the track, Gypsy Part of Town, is a smorgasbord of different sounds/influences which when mixed together create something really catchy and cool. He has taken a classic B’More drum beat and mixed in the different/unique sounds that Gogol Bordello is known for and created the perfect remix.
