I was treated to a promo copy of the Crystal Method (CM) CD, and finally got a chance to write about it. And after listening to a few times i can safely say that the album is really good.

I noticed that this CD took on a more poppish feel, which IMHO is a good thing because i feel that this record’s sound may be more accessible to public. The CM have kept their trademark sound, but definitely added a hip-hop/R&B feel to it, which works out because there wasn’t really a song i did not like. this can be seen on the track with LMFAO, Sine Language.

The songs are all well composed averaging 4+ minutes per track to really give u movement and feeling in a song. The list of guest artists on the album make the album that more interesting.

They have Peter Hook from New Order/Joy Division Fame on a few tracks, Justin Warfield from She Wants Revenge, Matisyahu, newcomers LMFAO and many more. The great thing about the collabs in this CD is that u can hear each artists style mixed in with the CM (See any track with Peter Hook for what I mean)

My favorite Song on the Album was either the Matisyahu track, Drown In the Now or the Justin Warfield One, Kling to the Wreckage.

The Matisyahu track is awesome. Opening with his signature religious type ambient vocal sounds, he then breaks into some sick lyrics that work brilliantly over the CM’s Big beat sound with a hip-hop feel, and the hook… it will catch ya.

The Second one with Justin Warfield, is equally as good. I have always been a fan of his voice. This track is more in tune with the sounds She Wants Revenge crafts, so naturally it flows incredibly, but once again the CM have added their signature sound to it. The chick who is singing in the chorus, don’t know her name, but she adds a good dynamic to the track. If you Like She Wants Revenge, you will like this one.

To be Honest, i never was a big fan of the CM, but after hearing this album, i have switched my mind…

EnjoY!
