Although the 70’s were before my time, there sure was some good disoc/soul music around. Granted i don’t know a lot about that era/style of music, i was amazed when a buddy of mine passed on this super track from The Notations called Super People.
The Notations, a Chicago based vocal group which consists of members Clifford Curry, Robert “Bobby” Thomas, Michael Thurman, and Marcus Gentry, have been working together for a while making really pretty music.
Super People, produced by Curtis Mayfield in 1975 on 7″, and subsequently released on his record label, brings you back to that classic disco sound, but with beautifully arranged 4-5 part harmonies and falsettos galore, Super People will catch your attention.
This track screams funk. Remix anyone?
EnjoY!
The Notations are still doing it and sounding quite good, as they proved at the Eccentric Soul Revue in Chicago back in April. They’re on the Numero Group’s Eccentric Soul Revue tour this November, and they’re dusting off “Super People” and “It Only Hurts for a Little While” just for the occasion!
