A very good friend of mine passed away last week, his name was Vince Galvin,
He was a good guy, taught me a lot in the time we spent together.

He is the reason i am where i am today. The reason i have the job i have today, but most importantly, he re-opened my eyes to the art of music that was missing from my life, for which i will always be in his debt for.

It started with 2 simple guitars and a drive to make a band (My Favorite Folly). He then told me i should buy a piano to expand our sound. I had played piano growing up so it was something i definitely wanted in my tiny studio apt in NYC.

After the piano, we had no money to record in a studio, so low and behold i bought my first audio interface and microphone for like $150, that was it, i was hooked, and now i can say that i have made something from his knowledge and inspiration. Ive won competitions, remixes and produced all sorts of music, a passion that i love and will continue till the day i die.

All that could not have been possible if it was not for Vince

Through the years that we knew each other we shared a passion for the arts–music movies, art,– and in many ways we had the same artistic tastes.

But Vince’s true calling was in video Production. He wanted to make movies and videos that people took notice to and enjoyed. He started doing production work for documentaries and short movies, which ultimately led to him starting his own company with his friend called SKy Collective.

Although SKy Collective was a new company, it was one that was starting to pop off, they had just finished a video for Jim Jones, and another video for an NYC band called Amazing Baby, both beautifully done and shot.

But like the people before him, it seems that only the good die young. Elliott Smith (Once of Vince’s favorite artists). Jimi Hendrix. Janis Joplin. These were people who were going some place in life, but unfortunately had their lives taken away from them before their time.

Vince was one of those people.

He was a good guy, and will be missed…. RIP Vince

Here is the latest video he did with SKy Collective… ENjoy
