For those of you die hard M.I.A. fanatics or M.I.A. newbies out there, she is back and ready to quench your thirst with a new EP. The EP, entitled How Many Votes Fix Mix is available on iTunes and includes a remix to her famous single Boyz and two new tracks “Shells” and “Far Far”. The track “Shells” continues the sound and feel of Kala, while “Far Far” sounds unfinished and leaves something to be desired.

This EP comes on the heels of her runaway hit, “Paper Planes” which was featured on the trailer for the summer flick Pineapple Express and as a result her 2007 album Kala found itself on the charts once again.

If you are uneducated in the ways of M.I.A., it’s best to go back to basics – be sure to pick up her debut album, 2005’s Arular, which is very different from Kala – much more nitty gritty, it sounds like she recorded it in her basement – but quintessential M.I.A. nonetheless.

We won’t be seeing much of her in the coming months – in case you didn’t know, M.I.A. is preggers by her fiance, Benjamin Brewer. If anything, get the EP to hold you out for a little while.

Here’s the video to M.I.A.’s famous single, “Bucky Done Gun”, which is on the Arular album and M.I.A.’s first foray into baile funk.

Bixo, signing out.
