I’ve been listening to the Glasvegas debut album all week on the subway and I haven’t gotten sick of it yet. New classic? Maaaaybeeee!
I love how this band sounds like the cast from Trainspotting were suddenly inspired by the Beach Boys, picked up some guitars, and started belting out soulful love ballads. It’s nice to hear some true romantics sometimes. James Allan sings with his guts and the reverb from Rab Allan is haunting. Surf music from Glasgow. Very good. They’re already getting all MTV-y though, so I hope they stay cool.
Now that I mentioned Trainspotting, I can’t help but include this quote:
“Choose life. Choose a job. Choose a starter home. Choose dental insurance, leisure wear and matching luggage. Choose your furniture. But why would anyone want to do a thing like that?”
