After listening to Hardwell’s remix of Bella’s “Nobody Loves Me”, I decided to check out more of his stuff. This inevitably led me to “Encoded”, his debut single which was released in late April. All I have to say is, the Dutch are at it again. I can’t believe the Dutch and their ability to continuously blast brain cells out of my head with each beat. An onslaught of house, I tell you.

Blogger exaggeration aside, Hardwell’s music is definitely something to look out for. Only 23 years old, he has his own record label and he’s already lent his music prowess to do remixes for Nadia Ali, Flo Rida and Akon, Gareth Emery, and Alex Gaudino. And just to be sure that this guy was real and not some mirage, I decided to check out where he’s playing this year. Turns out he’ll be at Electric Zoo. Guess who’s going to be there screaming like the 15-year-old boy who was next to me last year when checking out Afrojack’s set? I’ll give you a hint – it won’t be that 15-year-old.

It’s hard to believe it’s been four years since Luz Divina released her debut, The Other Side. She was a regular on the New York City dance scene; a successful production deal with DJ Jonathan Peters who produced her hit track “In Your Eyes” lead to wide exposure on radio stations such as KTU and a performance at the famed Winter Music Conference.

Check out this new find straight out of BoomBoomChik’s inbox. A Londoner by way of Montserrat, Blee (an acronym for “Black Lion of Eternal Excellence” – a little over-indulgent, we must admit) is a rapper by trade, something that wouldn’t be quite apparent to the listener. He half sings half raps over an electropop track called “Serenade” which might be compared to Flo Rida‘s latest efforts if he were to be remixed by Daft Punk. It’s an uptempo club track that will have you on the dance floor in no time flat.

There is no doubt that the tracks on the album are broken up into 2 categories, songs that have vocalists and songs that are straight instrumentals, both which have their respective feels. Any track on Kaleidoscope that contains vocals really got me moving. The way the club beats work behind the respective artist is stellar. Each track is catchy and keeps you wanting more. These tracks are pure pop with the right amount of dance.

The one track that did it for me, and also the one I will probably play many times over in the coming weeks was “Who Wants to Be Alone” featuring Nelly Furtado. From the very first downbeat of the track, you can’t not help but love the song. It has this dark overtone and Nelly Furtado nails it. Her beautiful, but edgy vocals really compliment the sharp distinct sounds Tiesto has added to accompany her. The hook is ridiculous and screams #1 single (they are probably saving it for the 2nd single as the track with Sneaky Sound System is the 1st single).

Other highlights include “Knock You Out” featuring the stunning Emily Haines from Metric which sounds like a metric song that has been remixed. Also “Escape Me” and “It’s Not the Things You Say” are worth listening to.

The Bad

The tracks that did not have any vocals were too trancy for me. It became very clear that tracks with vocals, and tracks with not, play out differently. I had a totally different vibe from non-vocal ones which made me want to skip to the next track.

In the End, I was very pleased with Kaleidoscope. The sounds he has crafted on this new album are much different from his older stuff, and that’s probably why he deiced to start his own label Musical Freedom, after parting ways with Black Hole to release this album. Overall this album get my seal of approval, 4 our 5 stars

“Burn One Down” by Ben Harper, is probably one of my favorite songs of all times. I remember many a times listening to this track while I enjoyed my favorite “gift form the earth”. So I was pretty excited last night when one of my favorite remixers, IAMXL, had sent me a total re-work of the track.

Immediately you can’t help but notice the intricate bongo drum patterns that are layered throughout the entire song. They definitely enhance this songs’ feeling– combine that with a dance beat, Harper’s beautiful lyrics/voice and amazing production work by IAMXL, and you have a summer hit.

So go home, roll one up, then burn on down… i will

All I can say is that Jason Tyler makes some upbeat catchy electro-pop tunes. He has garnered praise from Urb Magazine, Felix Da House Cat and Missingtoof to name a few, and I’m sure he will get much more.

Hailing From Miami this producer, remixer and trumpeter (yes trumpeter) has just released his latest EP, Radical, and it is near perfect dance music. All you hipsters out there will be able to appreciate the beats this guy makes.

His music can be played at at your local hipster hang out, or the big room crowds, it is that versatile. Besides his stellar production work, his trumpeting can be found on most of his track and gives another layer/dynamic to his music.

We get a lot of dance music at BBC, and i have to say that this is some of the better stuff I have heard in a while. Take a listen.

I am really digging this track by UK producer Seb called ‘News For You,’ and it is another stellar jam for this Monday Morning.

Seb grew up in London for the majority of his life writing songs since he was a teen. He learned much about music from the church masses he went to as a kid–always listening to the music that made up the hymns.

I’m glad he was paying attention because his latest single ‘News For You’ is pretty sweet. The track has this awesome “chill” vibe to it that seems to get me moving. The steady 4 to the floor kick drum keeps me locked into the groove and has in fact made me more productive… Monday is getting better and better with each song that comes my way. Keep sending them!

Legendary Dance/Techno Producer/DJ Paul Van Dyk (PVD) has finally put out a greatest hits compilation called ‘Volume’ which spans his 15 year career as a leader in the electronic dance world.

‘Volume’ was originally released digitally for 2 weeks before it made its physical appearance on record shelves. Composed of 2 disks, the first dick/disk (sorry that’s hilarious!) contains 13 original PVD tracks that will get your feet moving and feeling good. He has included some light-hearted tracks as well as some darker ones to give you an overall flavor of talent this man has.

The 2nd disk is a collection of remixes that he has done for major artists including Depeche Mode, U2 and Justin Timberlake.

Besides Van Dyk’s greatest tracks, he has written a brand new track with Vega 4 lead singer Johnn McDaid called ‘Home,’ as well as a new mix of his classic tune ‘For An Angel’ –If you like to dance your pants off, then this ‘Volume’ is for you.
