Mixtape: K-HAM CA – Astro Traveling

We talked about Toronto artist, Khadeem Hamilton –aka K-Ham CA‘s, forthcoming mixtape, Astro Traveling a few months back on the site. We were digging the preview he sent us, so we knew the mixtape would have that same standard. He did not disappoint.

What we are digging about the mixtape is the creativity behind it. It is a mixture of interludes, skits and dope tracks and overall the whole mixtape flows really well from front to back. Another cool thing about this mixtape is that all of it is him, production and rhymes.

When you are not listening to interludes and skits, the production shines through with an equal amount of sampling and originality. You definitely hear his nod to 90’s hiphop sound that just seems to be missing from the hip hop today.

Every single track on the mixtape is dope, but if I had to pick one to start with, it would be “Haven” then the next, “Attack Of The Mi$fits”

Snowed in? No better time than that to listen to some new tunes. On this Blizzard of 2015 we have Junior Bernal, an up and coming artist from NYC whose lyrical poems talk about his life story and emotions. He sent us over 812 (Mixtape), his latest project that has peaked the interest of people due to his unique story-telling like flow.

After checking out the mixtape, I understand why his name is buzzing. Not only does he have a great flow, his choice in beats really compliment his voice and style and makes this project less hip hop and more hip pop.

Next up we got a new mixtape called Technism 8 from San Francisco based DJ, Fabian Repetto. Having an ongoing love affiar with music from a young age as well as an eclectic musical background, Fabian has performed all over alongside the likes of Darin Epsilon, Quivver, and Fabio Giannelli to name a few. Besides touring, his mixes have found much praise from an internationally wide ranging crowd.

Listening to Technism 8 will immediately transport you to a sweaty dance floor where the deep house/techno heads dance it out all night along. Another thing that I liked about this mix was the movement this track had. He builds it up, breaks it down and transitions so seamlessly that the party can never stop.

“Never Enough (interlude)” is the third and final release from SYG‘s Peace Pipe Circle mixtape which will be released Monday July 1st, 2013.

About SYG
Swerve & SYG are two hip-hop recording artists who met mid 2011 when SYG found a video of some of Swerve’s old music on youtube and contacted him about a feature. They did a song called “Skywalker” together and were so pleased with the outcome they decided to do a whole EP, which eventually led into a 15-track, full length mixtape titled Cold Winters & Warm Whiskey. Be on the look out for solo projects from both Swerve & SYG in the coming months.

Arabyrd (@arabyrd) – Disco Nected EP

And without further ado, Malaysian MC Arabyrd has finally released her highly-anticipated EP, Disco Nected, on Crunchtime Records. The EP opens with the ever-catchy “Rolexflex” (I got my rolex biiitch/I’m running in my Rolls Royce) and is followed by my favorite track on the EP, the quirky, all-Malay jam “Kek” which was featured on the Stereotyp mixtape earlier this year. The final song on the EP, “GUM on ur Shoe” reminds me of the schoolyard songs we would sing while playing double dutch in the Bronx.

You can purchase the EP HERE for a whopping 5 Euros (Americans, this is NOT in our favor) but the folks at Crunchtime have made “Rolexflex” available for free download (YAY!). Perhaps they heard that our credit rating dropped so they wanted to help us out a bit.
