Have some fresh new music from UK Producer, MrSoulsFull, who describes himself as a “beat junkie cutting dubs from the stomach of the mountains.” I don’t know which mountains he’s in, but I do know his take on the beats genre definitely has our ears. When you listen to any of his tracks, you will find solid hip-hop breakbeats behind some cleverly manipulated samples/ bits and synths. You definitely have some tracks to chill out to when life gets a little hectic.

Remix: Alexander von Mehren – Aerosuite (Sean O’ Hagan Remix)

Norwegian singer/instrumentalist, Alexander von Mehren, released a psyched out remix of his tune “Aerosuite,” courtesy of producer Sean O’ Hagan (Stereolab, High Llamas). The track is featured on his debut album, Aéropop which was released earlier this year.

Primarily influenced by French, British and Italian library music of the 60s and 70s, he blends that with his alt-pop songwriting that is sung in both English and French. Check out the remix below an leave your thoughts in the comments.

Video: Tears & Marble – We Don’t Like You

We talked about Dutch duo, Tears & Marble, a few weeks ago when they sent us over their interpretation of Haddaway’s “What Is Love.” Fast forward to today and they just sent us over a video to a new track they released called “We Don’t Like You” and it finally gives us an idea of what their sound is.

What we like about T&M is their take on ambient, downtempo electronic music. You won’t find an uppity electro-pop jams coming from their keyboards, but you will find intricate electronic instrumentation and haunting vocals that makes your skin crawl (in a good way of course)

Single: Me, Valentin & You – Heading Home

The new music just keeps coming in. Meet Me, Valentine & You. They are a German group that provides the perfect soundtrack for your late-night ride. The first single from their forthcoming debut, If, is called “Heading Home” and its is just beautiful.

A downtempo drumbeat lays the foundation for atmospheric electronic sounds and delicate pianos chords. Couldn’t help but think of the XX when listening to them. The song will definitely send chills down your spine. Once you hear it you will know why.

The band is set to release a new EP, Fall, on February 24th.The band sent us over the title track from the EP and we fell in love with their beautiful sound. The track incorporates dreamy electronic arrangements, interspersed with an upbeat glitchy guitar filled chorus coupled with ethereal vocals — my kind of track.

Listen: Theatre of Delays

Berlin based producer, Tommi Theatralo, aka Theatre of Delays has been on the music scene since his very first appearance, two years ago, with a non official remix of Justice’s “Audio, Video, Disco.” Putting out numerous remixes since then, he is ready to take the veil off his original stuff that can turn a simple walk in the city, with your headphones on, into a movie scene — there definitely is a cinematic touch in each on of his works.

Mr Theatralo sent us over 2 original records to peep and BBC is diggin it. His productions are very melodica and well composed– I’d say that his sound falls into the electronica category. I can definitely see this guy doing some big things in 2014. Check out the tunes below and let me know what you think.

Welcome: Fi Fi Rong

AWESOME MUSIC ALERT! You guys must check out this singer/songwriter and a producer FiFi Rong. Orignally from China, but now living in London, she is bringing some post-dubstep /electronic tunes to our consciousness.

The fist thing you notice about FiFi is her enchanting voice. It is intimate with a cool dreamy vibe, laden with sentiment and open vulnerability that carries the listener deep into her universe. Add that and her hypnotic beats that incorporate Chinese folk elements and delicate harmonies and you have something your ears will like.

I’m really digging this discovery and hopefully you will too. Listen to some tunes below. What do you think?

The Darcys Announce New Album + Single

The Darcys return September 17 with Warring, the final installation in a trilogy of releases on Canadian label Arts & Crafts. Following 2011’s brash debut The Darcys, the Toronto quartet’s latest is the culmination of more than three years of writing and six months in the studio that focused on sonic detail inspired by studio opuses of the 1970s.

Below you can check out the lead track from the album, “The River,” which the band says is about the darkness at the bottom if you don’t find yourself at the top.

Discoforticut Debut 1st Single, ‘ACNAC’

Next up we have a brand spankin’ new indie-electronic-downtempo side-project called Discoforticut. Composed of artists, Discoforgia, Ortiche and Ut, they met every Wednesday night for almost 2 months and gave life to their first single, “ACNAC.”

ACNAC is an echoic title, coming from the noise of stones striking together. It tells the story of a girl waking up in the middle of a desert, remembering nothing but this sound. Now she’s lost and she’s asking help by singing this song.

These guy made a good electronica song with some real ethereal vocals that is worthy of your ears

London producer, Astro Zu, has just released his debut Single, “Zillion Dollar Uh.” The best way to describe it is “breathtaking electronica from the outer reaches of an interplanetary imagination” His record label, Bad Life, was nice enough to send over the record to check it out. About Astro Zu
Astro Zu , a.k.a. Ronnie, lives in London. His unlikely story starts in the 1980’s at a commune in Staffordshire, where he was raised son to an astrologist Father and new-age yoga-teaching Mum. His childhood was defined by fantasy. With few friends to speak of, Ronnie would retreat into his imagination and conjure up a magical vision of another cosmic world far beyond the realm of this universe. There he would live for hours on end as the master of his domain: ‘Astro Zu’.

As he grew up, the phase passed. Following his parent’s divorce he relocated to east London and soon found himself a new obsession: making music. Astro Zu sees Ronnie returning to his imaginary cosmos, this time to provide the soundtrack. It’s a project born from his love of Flying Lotus, 60’s psychedelia and 90’s RnB, once again bringing to life the often weird and fantastical world of his childhood.

Wow!

So how long has it been since I posted something on BBC? Too long if you ask me. However, I have come out of retirement to share with you this awesome new band I was introduced to in the interim called South South Million.

Hailing from Detroit MI, this duo (with the help of some other talented musicians) creates a sample heavy, jazzed influence, lo-fi sound that truly mesmerizes you from beginning to end.

Besides having this wicked awesome sound going on, they are set to release their latest album, Wind Hand Caught In Door, on Brooklyn’s awesome indie label, Triple Down Records, on March 6th.

If you want to get a taste a of what these guys got, peep the teaser video they sent over to us that combines snippets of tunes from the album mixed with beautiful images od Detroit.

We always love to share good music with you here at Boomboomchik and this sort-of new UK band, Dresden, definitely has something going for them. The best way to describe their sound is melodic electronica with smooth tones, spacious melodies and a sense of sincerity in the vocals, sort of reminds me of chilled-out Duran Duran a bit. These guys definitely have some great songwriting skills.
