New tunes for you courtesy of Nashville duo, The RA-6600. They sent us over a copy of their latest album, Alien Planet, to check out and it is an album that captures the true DYI spirt. Recorded in a garage with one microphone and the vocals into the on-board mic of a 2009 Macbook, they took the lyrics from poems created by Emma Kate Pearson, a 14 year old girl who has a lot to say, and made six short and meaningful songs.

It’s really cool to hear what can be done with just a piano and a drumset. Even though there are only 2 instruments their sound shows more depth than you think. The tunes, form beginning to end, have a whimsical vibe too which keeps you entertained and moving. Singer-songwriter, Daniel Olivas has created something new and unheard. Going from mini rap verses to over-the-top melodies and vocal statements, the music combined with Pearson’s words makes something from another universe — an alien transmission

One thing that is for sure is that no one makes music like The RA-6600. It can’t be categorized into any genre and is not what you expect. I promise you that you will go back to listen to this album multiple times always hearing some fresh, new and raw each time.
