NYC hip-hop duo, Metermaids, are Swell and Sentence, two emcees who met through the local underground hip-hop scene in 2006. After releasing their debut EP the same year, the duo toured with the likes of Brand Nubian, Atmosphere, Sage Francis, Fabulous, Lady Bug Mecca (Digable Planets) and many more. After the tour, the duo released their first full-length in 2008 entitled Nightlife which blended indie rock with hip-hop.
Fast forward to today and duo has sent us a track from their freshly released indie rock sampling mixtape, Hello. The track, “Rust and Sharp Edges” is essentially an in-your-face remix of the Dead Weather’s “Treat Me Like Your Mother” with Swell and Sentence emceeing raw verses and witty punch lines over it.
