New Single: Setting Sun – Driving

Setting Sun is the alias for prolific songwriter Gary Levitt. Born in Queens, Levitt has been playing music and writing songs ever since he picked up guitar in his family’s one bedroom apartment. He is set to release his latest record Fantasurreal this Summer on Young Love Recrods.

After a hectic tour schedule in 2008-2009, Mr. Levitt decided to retreat to his place in upstate NY to let his new sound flow. Recorded within 6 months, he has successfully merged folk rock with swirling electronics and pop melodies.

On this album Mr. Levitt finds himself immersed in the alt-folk sound with a big emphasis on electronic experimentation, more so than his previous efforts and can thus be seen in the first single, “Driving.” The track opens up with a piercing, catching synth melody only to be followed by  full sounding acoustic guitars, driving beats/percussion that strike a similarity to Beck  with intimacy heard through his soft spoken, emotive lyrics.

enjoY!
