Versant, 4/5ths Swedish and 1/5th American, is led by Carah Faye, former frontwoman of Shiny Toy Guns. She enlisted Daniel Johansson, co-producer of the ‘Sounds’ latest album, Crossing the Rubicon, and Richard Ankers, former drummer of Melody Club to join the band. The group then acquired Johan Grettve on guitars/keyboard and Nicholas Oja on bass to round out the group. They are in the process of putting the final touches on their self-released EP, due out March 23rd, 2010.
Versant follows in the foot steps of Shiny Toy Guns, really well crafted electro pop tunes. The beats are very upbeat and fun while Faye’s vocals are very up front in the mix with lyrics that often times draw from real-life experiences. What’s really cool about these guys is that you can distinctly hear each members influence in the sound. Check it out
