@itsmeleighton Leighton Meesters’s Somebody to Love (ft. Robin Thicke)

This always happens to me. I hear about a new song, find it on the internet, tweet it and then it’s sent to me. Go figure. Well, original tweet deleted. Here I am writing about Leighton Meester’s new single Somebody to Love and it’s pretty awes if I do say so myself. It’s a really good example of the nu disco/electronic pop fusion coming to mainstream American music. It also has a very French feel – think “Yelle” but smoother.

I have to say I admire Leighton. We have kinda similar backgrounds and she’s using her career and public presence to parlay herself into other fields that she loves. Go Leighton! I also like that she’s releasing singles not a full blown album just yet. Gives the music world an opportunity for us to taste what she has to offer, listen to her voice and give feed back before she lays down 10+ tracks in the studio and releases an album. I’m definitely looking forward to what she has in store for us next!
