The Portland, OR electronic duo Microfilm have just released their 2nd EP of 2009, Blips Don’t Lie, or As Microfilm calls its it “A Triple A side.” Blips Don’t Lie is a six-track affair containing three original new songs, as well as three remixes and features the vocal and guitar talents of Scissor Sisters’ Del Marquis and the icy cool British tones of Black Box Recorder singer Sarah Nixey.
The beats are simple and minimal honing in on that electro sound, but leaving enough room for the dark, monotonous, with a hint of melody vocals that the lead singer Keppel provides. The music is different in itself and his voice matches that perfectly. You really have to listen to it too see what I mean.
Check out “I’ll Sing Like Billy MacKenzie In Heaven (feat. Del Marquis)” and “His N’ Hers Hibernation (ft. Kylie Minimoog), 2 of my favorites
