Introducing: Yuna

Every now and again an artist comes by to give us our chill and laid back fix while demonstrating a talent and virtuosity that is rare in this day and age. Yuna, a young Malaysian singer-songwriter, has the potential to be just that. Her voice, which light yet rich and velvety texture that only gets better with age, is the centerpiece of all of her songs, but is perfectly matched with her instruments of choice: guitars, drums, and occasionally piano. Her song, “Dan Sebenarnya”, is being played on radio stations all over Malaysia and the promising artist will be playing at KL’s well-known Urbanscape festival this Saturday. Yuna has also penned numerous songs in English.

Unfortunately Yuna’s tunes aren’t available on iTunes or major retailers, but you can get her EP by mail order. For more on how to do this, check out Yuna’s MySpace page.

Here’s Yuna’s “Dan Sebenarnya”:

Peace,
